what are you guys talking about going off topic?

Lets start from the beginning of this topic.

How do you decrease the load time? i'm using the "for" function, the fastest form of processing there is on VB. On my save game viewer, (I got a pentium 3 processor) it takes about 15 minutes just to load 1000 objects. I'm not kidding, the viewer is really slow, even with the "for" functions.

Lol. You are pitiful.

Read the first post in this so-called "topic" and tell me you've returned to the "beginning of this topic"

Yes, I have looked at OpenGL. (but only the msdn site and their explanation was horrible.) I'll have to check it out further in depth and compare it to Direct X. You only need a few simple commands for a ray-casting engine, so whichever does the simple stuff best, I will pick, if I ever get around to it.

And beat, I'm quite sure that VB can use DirectX, I don't know how to incorporate it though. (My best experience with VB is with Qbasic a long long time ago.)

I'll see how to upload that DirectX8 on my prototype game called Cannonfodder3D. Thats right! I said a 3D game in VB! The loading time is really slow. The only reasion I cannot release it because of the LONG load time! Cannonfodder2D loads really fast because it is a simple game.

VB can use it, but as Beat said, it is very slow.

One of the reasons is because VB is unrefined and by many not considered a real programming language. Now take C++ and you'd create a great fine running directx game.

Well, for me, VB is the only way I can create programs to Experiment with my electronic projects, Examine info, Intercom, and radar. I can create a decent game with VB, but it will be slow if I use alot of math in that project like I did in my cannonfodder 3D.

Now, I know this is a technical bump due to dates but not too many things have been said in this forum anyways so... I too will be checking back here more often. I just today learned about the new forums again which sort of shows how much I was following it before. Go Dion!

Bad news Beat!!

As I suspected from the 1st time I hear your game's name, THERE IS A EXISTING GAME WITH THE NAME CANNON FODDER!! Now you MUST change the name...

And you can't call Cannon Fodder as a fast game!!! I'm sure of that!!! Try scorch and/or genocide. After that you will see what is good and what is bad.

Ow! But I don't seen diference!!

With your powerfull computer may be it doesn't look diferent, but on MY PC pursues from ages, there's BIG DIFERENCE!!!

Ok, genocide has a slow redraw, but it takes less than 1 second, your game for me took about 1 minute... And Genocide is 3D!! And when I fire, Cannon Fodder pulls me an error mensage... I don't think it's working yet, at least for me!!

ANYWAY... Good Luck!!

Cannon fodder was the original game. Beat simply made a clone of it. Anyways, his version isn't complete, that's why it sucks (Just like his brain scripting skills, very inefficient).
